Planning approval for global manufacturer at Worcester Six

28th August 2024

Leading commercial property developer, Stoford has secured planning approval for a new 278,048 sq ft manufacturing facility at the southern extension of Worcester Six, near Jct 6 of the M5.

The new unit will become the EMEA headquarters for global manufacturer, MiTek, serving its businesses in the UK, France, Germany, Poland, Latvia, Czech Republic, Sweden, Norway, Finland and South Africa.

MiTek will acquire the freehold to the building upon its completion, representing what is believed to be the largest pre-sale in Worcestershire for more than 20 years.

The unit will be accessible via an estate road currently being developed; due for completion in September 2024.

Construction of the new unit will commence in October 2024, and is scheduled for completion in Q4 2025.

Stoford Director, Edward Peel, said: “Welcoming MiTek to the southern extension of Worcester Six is particularly exciting. Establishing a new headquarters will have a significant impact on the business park and surrounding area in terms of employment opportunities and economic benefits. We are thrilled to have secured planning consent and look forward to starting work.”

James Morgan, Managing Director for MiTek’s EMEA operations commented: “We are delighted to have been granted planning permission for our new European HQ. As demand for offsite construction continues to grow, this building will provide the manufacturing capacity to support the continued growth of our customers across Europe, as well as providing spaces that inspire creativity, foster collaboration, and drive innovation.”

Ian Edwards, Director of Economy and Environment at Wychavon District Council, said: “MiTek’s record-breaking investment at Worcester Six is testament to Wychavon’s pro-growth approach to creating new and sustainable employment for the district. MiTek will employ over 200 people onsite and support many more jobs through suppliers and service providers.

“The 278,048 square-foot factory will include around 30,000 square-foot of offices making this also the largest single office development seen in the district for many years. This is an impressive step in growing business in the Wychavon area. We welcome businesses like this to the area to help us to continue to grow a diverse and thriving local economy. It’s also a sign of confidence that Wychavon is a rising place to do business.”

Councillor Adam Kent, Cabinet Member with Economy and Skills, at Worcestershire County Council said: “We are thrilled to welcome MiTek, a globally recognised company in the building industry, with customers across Europe, to Worcester Six. This move brings excellent job opportunities to the county as well as a huge positive impact on our local economy. The relocation of their headquarters is a significant investment for MiTek and shows great confidence in Worcestershire as a business location.”
